No room causes more arguments than the bathroom. Even the television doesn’t divide us as much as the toilet. For those who don’t have the space and capacity to add a second bathroom, renovating your bathroom may be your only option. If you have an ensuite in addition to your family bathroom, you’re one of the lucky ones. If not, you’ll know the struggles all too well.
Everyone’s fighting to get in there first so they can shower. And, the person who is first uses up all the hot water, leaving the rest of you with a cold washing. Not to mention that the last person to use the room gets about 30 seconds before you all have to leave. Sound familiar?
You’re not alone. This is the morning routine in many family households. But, that doesn’t mean you have to continue to suffer. With some thoughtful redesign by your interior designer, renovating your bathroom that can host more than one participant can be a reality. Obviously, some bathroom activities are best done in private. But, many of them can become family affairs if you follow these tips.
Never run out of water again
Of all the bathroom issues, the hot water matter is the worst. So, it’s worth focusing on this first. This is less of a family affair and more of a ‘plenty to go around’ situation. By investing in a tankless water heater, you stand to have unlimited hot water. These costs less and will still provide enough hot water for all. Whatever you decide, this will be an instant game changer for the whole family. And, you’ll find that taking out the competitive edge in the mornings will work wonders for your relationships.
Two sinks are better than one
They say that two are better than one, so why not opt for a double sink while you’re renovating your bathroom? As well as looking impressive, this will make morning routines easier to handle. The animals went in two by two, and so can your family when they’re brushing their teeth. While everyone likes to use the toilet in private, there shouldn’t be any issues with using the sink at the same time. Plus, the double storage space this option provides is sure to suit all your storage needs.
Separate the shower and bath
Over the bath showers are fantastic in most cases. But, only having one means that only one person can wash at a time. Separating the two will allow you to double your morning efficiency. If you’re worried about space, it might be worth a bathroom renovation to facilitate your shower separate from the tub. This will also provide some much-needed privacy. You could also install a screen, or curtain around the bath for this purpose.
