Pantone’s 2013 Spring Colors

Spring has officially arrived and everyone should know about Pantone’s 2013 spring colors. These colors individually are gorgeous but when paired together, they sing from the tree tops and make you want to do a happy dance.

See, what did I tell ya?

Check out these amazing color combinations in actual rooms!

This color combination is trending right now. Doesn’t it look gorgeous?

Ahh… but then look at the combination of nectarine and jade. How yummy is that?

And then there are the cool tones… Cinderella obviously started a trend, Pantone has just brought it back to fashion and design.

The blue and violet used in this room are closely related on the color wheel creating a soothing analogous color scheme.

My absolute favorite color is chartreuse (I prefer the greener hue vs the yellow one). I am swooning over the mirrored side table, aren’t you?

I love the way the Nectarine curtains change this plain blue room into something fun and exciting. There are so many things I like about this room – the headboard, lamps, and the way the curtains frame the window and bed.

Here are several colors of spring that are seen together and work beautifully.

Which color combination are your favorites?

Easter Decorating

With Easter right around the corner, it has gotten me excited to think about decorating ideas for the home and of course home-made Easter baskets for my munchkin. Easter is one of my favorite holidays, there is something to be said about a holiday that allows your home to be draped in pastels while a certain special bunny comes and visits your home with lots and lots of chocolate. With that said, I thoroughly enjoy embracing the very special holiday with decorating my home with all things spring and bunnies.

A few simple twig-style nests with a couple artificial flowers and pastel eggs can be used as a pretty centerpiece or mantle arrangement.

This dainty teacup cradles some beautiful fresh flowers such as spring violets. These can be used at your Easter dinner place settings.

This would make for a cheery centerpiece on your Easter table. Oh, so easy!

Even the most dignified bunny has a place on the mantle. Add some moss, eggs and a little bird and you’ve got yourself a decorated display.

Add some moss in a small bowl with a blown out and clean egg and a few of spring’s first flowers and you have a beautiful arrangement.

When decorating for any holiday I encourage you to embrace the holiday to its fullest and enjoy it with those you love most. I hope you’ve been inspired to decorate for spring or the holidays. Adding style to a coffee table consists of focusing on the little details that will in turn, make a big impact. It is the focal point guests see first when they enter in your living room. With that said, it’s worth the energy to decorate and decorate to fit your interior design style. Although every homeowner’s style is different and constantly changing here are five essentials that make styling your coffee table an easy task.

How to Determine if you Need an Interior Designer

How to determine if you need an interior designer. Your home should be a reflection of your personal style and lifestyle while keeping up to date with the decor trends.

source

If you look around your home and it is lacking life and personality you may need to hire an interior designer. If you once liked your space, but now you and your family are at a different place in life and need an outsider’s view and touch, an interior designer can help. If the colors in your home seem outdated and 1990′s, you may need an interior designer.

source

Some people have the time and know how to put towards choosing decor, colors, and finishes together while others get overwhelmed with the number of available color choices, and styles. Read on to determine if you need to hire an interior designer.

Is your home reflecting you: Anyone can buy furniture, paint colors, and move furniture around a room. An interior designer on the other hand will sit down with you and discuss what your personal style is. They will determine by your family and lifestyle what finishes work best and what will fit your budget. An interior designer can help you strategically plan a space to fit your life, and layout the necessary elements to bring it to together. If you cannot say your space reflects you, you should consider hiring a designer to take away the stress.

source

Do you enjoy recreating your space: In your spare time can you visualize how you would like your space to look like? If given an all white room with no furniture or finishes, could you pull together the space and be pleased with the results? Some people are good at visualizing in their head, then transposing to paper to articulate, and then into the living and breathing space. If you enjoy this process, you may not need an interior designer. I have seen several do-it-yourself-ers seek online design inspiration to get started. However, if you are like most, that may seem like a daunting task and you may not be able to visualize what individual pieces will look like or fit together. If that sounds familiar, you may need to call an interior designer.

Expertise can outweigh price: If you’re weighing the pros and cons of hiring an interior designer, keep in mind, the expertise that an interior designer can bring, can outweigh the price of their service. Your home is probably the most expensive asset you have. The time, energy, trips back and forth to home improvement and furniture stores, and not to mention stress could all be handled with the ease and expertise of an interior designer. While on television it appears that you can remodel a room in a weekend, the factual truth is there are countless designers, trades people and crew with the know how to pull this off. In your home, you may have a few friends, and yourself – make the decision for the right reasons and not only financial.

source

Talk to an Interior Designer first: Most designers will offer a consultation to come to your home and assess your design dilemmas and walk through your options. Some designers will have tier pricing where you can do work yourself and then utilize them for a few options, rather than the entire project. This is good for a do-it -yourself-er that doesn’t want to take on everything. If on the other hand you want to sit back and relax, there are always great options for you!

source

The decision to hire an interior designer can seem difficult, but in reality is not. It will require you to figure out how much help you want, and what you enjoy doing yourself. If you want to avoid costly mistakes then hiring an expert interior designer can be the most rewarding decision you can make to assure yourself that a quality living space will be created.
