So many of us want to live in larger homes. For many of us, it might just be a pipe dream. Dreams of a bigger home, as where we are living now is rather cluttered and feels small. For others, they can be actively seeking to live somewhere different so that they can have a larger home. If you fall into the former category, rather than the latter, then there are things that you can be doing now to increase the space in your home. There are space saving storage tips and tricks that can make your home less cluttered, for sure. When the home is less cluttered, with fewer things on the floor, it can immediately look larger and more spacious. So here are a few ideas that you can try.
If you feel that your home is cluttered, then it is a good idea to sort through your belongings. Do you think you will really need all of those things that are on your shelves or on your countertops? I like to go by the rule that if things haven’t been used in the past six months, then the chances of them being used again is quite slim. So sort through and declutter. The rooms in your home will feel instantly less busy and cluttered than they were before.

Is It Absolutely Necessary To Be Out
After your home is left feeling clear and uncluttered, then it can be a good idea to look at other things that could be moved or rehoused. Think about your kitchen, for example. Can you move some pots and pans to somewhere else, rather than having them taking up space in the oven? You could put up hooks on the walls to hang them on, as well as creating some storage space on top of your kitchen cabinets.
There are other things that could be moved from the counter tops too. Things like a water filter can take up space in your kitchen and on top of counter tops. Do you need it taking up space on your counter top when there are other options like an under-sink water filter? It would free up space in your kitchen as it will just mean a small tap under the sink. So looking into under sink water filters (great review here), could be a good choice for you. Also, do you only use your toaster or tea mixer occasionally? If so, could they be stored elsewhere until they’re needed?
If you can, get some furniture pieces that can be very versatile. Take a table, for example. You can find many that can fold out or have an extension inserted to become a larger table. So dinner parties can still be an option. But as they aren’t going to be a daily occurrence, you don’t need an over sized table to be taking up space. So things that fold away, or that can be used for multiple things, are such a good idea when you live somewhere that is a little on the small side.
