Exceptional Entryways are the gateway to a home. When considering how your entryway should appear or feel, each selection should be highly thought out and each finish carefully chosen. Today’s post is a perfect example of what I’m talking about in regards to creating an exceptional entryway. In my client’s new house we wanted an entryway that will impress their guests while welcoming them into the home. Much consideration went into how to make such a grand entrance feel warm and inviting, yet sophisticated and chic.
The home has made much progress with the construction, painting and finishing touches. If you remember, a few weeks back I posted a blog on Kitchen design from concept to reality from the very same home. Today we move into the foyer as I show you the progress and all that goes into the details of choosing finishes, fixtures and furnishings to make a welcoming statement upon entering.
The beginning stages…
My client agreed with me that a two story foyer this size had to be a moderate departure from the norm. The scale of the space is rather large and therefore, upon planning the word “grand and sophisticated” came to my mind. The design and balusters were chosen for this formal entryway and I think both were perfected. Next came the decorative panels going up the stairs.
By this time I had already chosen the rich color paint for the walls which was Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore. I felt that with all the light from the palladium window above and front door, a dark rich color in a space such as this would be warm and inviting and be able to handle it A-Okay! I was right… doesn’t it look amazing?
Above are some photos of the chandelier light that we selected to hang directly in front of the palladium window. It fills up the space nicely and adds elegance and just enough light when the evening guests arrive. The gorgeous light can be seen when you ride up the driveway and is just stunning. The paneling was painted next as we got ready for the finishing touches to this foyer.

The finishing touches were carefully chosen as part of the decor. Sconces to mimic the chandelier above, a chic table that adds a bit of sophistication and elegance and chunky round mirror to duplicate the curves in the staircase. This is the end result of decorating for an amazing foyer that will leave a lasting impression and welcome guests for years to come. It is all in the little details. Carefully select your finishes, fixtures and furnishings to create the feeling of a welcoming home and you will have your guests wanting to come back again.
Thank you for joining me on this journey! Until next time, happy decorating!
