Kitchen Design From Concept To Reality

A kitchen design idea from concept to a reality and many, many steps in between.

Building or renovating a home is not an effortless task. Many decisions need to be made each essential in creating the home’s overall style and value. A friend of mine approached me in desperate need of help designing her interior of her custom built 5500 square foot home. She knew what she liked and didn’t like but didn’t know where to start. She was feeling very overwhelmed with all the choices out there and didn’t know how to pull it all together. After discussing her vision, I immediately was off and running with designing her new home.

The first floor has an open floor plan so I started with the designing of the kitchen which was one of the main features of the first floor. The kitchen was being fabricated by Integrity Kitchens and Kevin did a phenomenal job of meeting all of our needs. Kevin and I put our heads together and came up with gorgeous custom cabinets and island that would work beautifully for her large family.

After thoughtful consideration, I knew that the cook top hood was to be one of the main focal points of the kitchen and had to be spectacular! Second to that would be the granite counter top and island. We visited many granite places until we nailed the perfect one. Once the cabinets, granite, fixtures and hardware were chosen, it was time to visit the tile store to choose a decorative back splash.

The back splash has yet to be installed but here is what we have installed for the kitchen so far. Aren’t the lights so elegant? Okay I think I’m officially in love with this kitchen already!

The floors were recently stained and walls were painted. The tile back splash is going up next. The kitchen is almost complete. The clock is ticking and move in date is in 5 more days!

I will post a future blog on the process of designing the master bathroom, three full bathrooms and the downstairs powder room soon!

This was just a tease… More pictures to follow when it is finished.
